Majimaji Selebuka is a cross cutting event which involve trade fair, cultural & social activities, sports events, tourism and other activities which has been part and parcel of the life of people in Tanzania, particularly Southern Tanzania. It is aimed at not only to expose the goodness of the Southerners but opening doors and opportunity to many Tanzanians and other neighboring countries such: Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia. The event is open to every one and the organizers, invites various stakeholders to participate in the events.

Tanzania, like many developing countries, has potential of utilizing available resources and make the country advance more in various sectors and improve welfare of its people in terms of; economy, services, education, health, living standards, life expectancy, etc. With Globalization, there is no way a country can develop in isolation, thus interactions with outside world is inevitable.
The general objective of Majimaji Selebuka is to provide awareness on potentiality which the country and its people have, expose the goodness of Tanzania, especially southern part and assist the locals to lead the front line towards economic, social and cultural advancement, through interactions with outside world such as Japan and other developed countries.

i. Awareness on Tanzania Potentiality
Majimaji Selebuka is a philosophy founded on; teamwork, vision and hardworking. It aims at contributing to the economy and welfare of locals which in turns contribute to the development of Tanzania.

ii. Growth and Development in quality and quantity.
There has been an exponential increase in number of participants and spectators since the Majimaji Selebuka started in 2015. In Trade fair and entrepreneurship for example, in the first year 2015, 10 groups participated. In the second year 2016, 32 groups participated. The plan is to have a minimum
of 50 groups in 2017. This SMEs are given opportunity not only to market their skills and products but also to educate the visitors and earn a living. The increased number of participants says it all that the benefits are evident and the venture is sustainable.

iii. Sustainability
African countries are rich in traditions and culture which can be turned into opportunity, create jobs, produce copy righted products and market them. It is one of objective of Majimaji Selebuka to sustainable make the local traditional groups earn a living through their dances, music and other arts. The are not only participating but also given education on how to market their products within and outside the country.
This is the same to other packages available in Majimaji Selebuka. The Majimaji Selebuka started in 2015 and it will continue to provide much needed education, awareness, exposure and market to the local Tanzanian in various sectors.

iv. Impacts
Since 2015 to date, more than 20,000 local people in Ruvuma region have participated in Majimaji Selebuka as; exhibitors, traditional dancers, local tourists, debaters, athletes, media, spectators etc. There are more than two million Tanzania who have followed Majimaji Selebuka in main stream media and online media. Exhibitors, traditional dances and athletes have secured business contacts such as invitation to participate in international competition, market for their products etc. For schools and students who participated in school debate, they had experience of their life time.
For winners, they won the good prizes from JATA /JICA but perhaps the most important prize is the knowledge, socialization and Majimaji Selebuka-Mtu Kwao Special Forum which will be teaching them on how to draw cartoon and its messages. This is possible through Majimaji Selebuka which has created a forum in collaboration with Mr. Nathan Mpangala, the leading cartoonist in Tanzania.

v. Targeted Group / Place
Majimaji Selebuka targets all Tanzanians, particularly those middle and low income earners in Southern and Southern Highlands of Tanzania. These are places like Ruvuma, Lindi, Mtwara, Njombe, Mbeya, Iringa, Rukwa and Katavi regions which are not only far from Dar es salaam but also experience low income.These are places which have high potential in Agriculture, Tourism, Education and other activities which may contribute to the well being of its people and a country as a whole. Majimaji Selebuka aims at unlocking those potentials for the benefits of Tanzania and its people.

vi. Participants
Majimaji Selebuka is open to every one, local or foreigner; individual or company. The open door policy aims at allowing not only new members but also new ideas. In 2015 session, there was no Majimaji Selebuka Mtu Kwao but in 2016, that new person (Nathan Mpangala joined the band wagon) and new idea was in board. Equally, we have a new person in 2017 (Ms Elizabeth Mramba, who comes with a new idea, MKABESA meaning women and business). The increase of new people everyday, means the coming of new ideas aboard.

vii. Recruiting more participants
Well designed friendly and open policy approach has been a good catalyst for recruiting more and more participants. The realism of the Majimaji Selebuka Philosophy attracts more participants every year. Further, the use of media has made it possible. TV, Radio, Newspapers, Website, Blogs, and other online media has contributed towards dissemination of the idea and recruitment of the new participants.

viii. Volunteers
Majimaji Selebuka, in order to reach more people and business community, requires a service of two volunteers from your company to be stationed in Songea. The volunteers will be undertaking the noble duties of outreach to both local people in Songea, Ruvuma Tanzania and worldwide, online and through other means. Majimaji selebuka will provide accomodation for volunteers in Songea.

The Majimaji Selebuka 2017 will involve various activities such as:

The Majimaji Selebuka is jointly organized by Tanzania Mwandi Company Limited in association with Songea-Mississippi. The organizers aim at placing Songea in the global map in: economic, social and cultural events for the benefit of Songea, Tanzania and its people.

The Majimaji Selebuka is a series of events which involve various activities as planned by the organizing committee. Majimaji Selebuka 2017 shall take place between 23rd to 30th July 2017, in Songea. Therefore your company/organization is hereby invited to partner with the organizers and make this event more successful in its third season 2017.
